Private client's website revamp
Task
Rewrite the copy for a private website.
How
1. Take inspiration from the client's current site.
In this case my client is looking to change career, and with it, website.
"[redacted] is a multi-skilled actor and theatre maker based in [redacted]. He has extensive experience in music and sound design, puppetry, dramaturgy, devising and multimedia performance."
My client's original About page was straight-forward and impersonal. In my rewrite I explored a couple different options:
"A proven storyteller, [redacted] attendance in courses such as [redacted] have helped build his strong technical foundation in programs like Adobe Animate and After Effects, while also fostering the compelling and open story arcs for which audiences best know his work.
His most recent endeavors into stop motion creation allow the multi-skilled actor and sound technician to continue his journey into alluring storytelling through yet-another medium. Be sure to keep up with his much-anticipated projects here."
First, just enhancing the tone of the current website.
2. Maintain a critical eye and edit.
Knowing the need for self-assessment, I decided the copy could benefit from a more personal tone. Enter, draft two:
"If you’re reading this you must have made it past the three-headed monster. Congratulations! I’m [redacted] and I’ve been here for ages.
I’m a [redacted]-based Junior Animator with a first class degree in Theatre and Performance Studies from [redacted]. With that nice piece of paper and a strong performance background in sound design and puppeteering, I seek to bring a theatrical touch to each of my animations. All the proof you need can be found here in my recent 2D short: [redacted], screened at the 2018 [redacted] festival.
I’ve attended courses at [redacted] strengthening my technical foundation, while also giving me more nice pieces of paper. Utilizing programs like Adobe Animate and After Effects, audiences best know my work for its compelling and open story arcs.
Recent work includes a strong focus on bringing mental health to the forefront of my personal projects. You can keep up with all that...... here.

Moving forward, I prioritize my client's target audience, while also testing my own skills and pushing for the copy that best converts.
